Sharon Goodenough

Sharon Goodenough is a contemporary British painter based in Ascot, where she lives and works. Her practice centres on coastal landscapes, exploring themes of freedom, resilience, and a return to self.
Drawn to the sea as a place of calm and clarity, Sharon paints expansive horizons and shifting tides as reflections of inner experience. For her, the coastline is not simply a location but a state of being, where breath deepens, perspective widens, and external noise begins to fall away. Her work balances strength and softness, capturing both the grounding power and the quiet expansiveness of the sea.
Sharon studied art and photography in her early years before life led her along a different path. She later returned to painting with renewed commitment, undertaking classical training at an atelier in Bournemouth, where she developed her oil painting practice in the tradition of the old masters. Over the past eight years she has steadily built her body of work and now paints full time.
Her paintings are created in layered oils, often incorporating handwritten words and song lyrics beneath the surface, unseen but felt, reflecting the emotional depth we each carry. Earlier works explored unspoken emotion; more recent pieces hold gratitude, music, and a sense of spaciousness.
Sharon is a co-author of the international bestselling books Radical Self Love and Radical Freedom, part of The Creative Lifebook series, which explore creativity, resilience, and transformation. Her work has been featured in Artist & Illustrator magazine and a collection of her artwork was selected for the Mangusta Yacht launch in Soho, London.
Through her seascapes, Sharon offers collectors more than a view, she offers a moment of pause, strength, and quiet expansion.
